- Figures for a typical 3” (76.2mm) Dairy pipe, 20m in length
(L), product cost of 67p per litre (€1 per litre (C), 4 runs a
day (R) and 240 production days a year (P) :-
- Diameter OD = 3”(76.2mm), wall thickness W = 1.6mm
(for 3" dairy tube)
- Radius r = (OD - (W x 2)) / 2 = 36.45mm
- Cross sectional area A = PI r 2 = PI x (36.5) 2 = 4191 mm2
- Volume V = Area x Length = A x L = 4191 x 20 = 83822 mm3 i.e. 83 litres
- Cost of product saved S = C x V = 0.67 x 83 => £55 (or €83) per run.
- Savings = P x R x S =
240 x 4 x 55, i.e. £52.8k (€79.7K) saved/year.
NOTE - savings do not include the reduction in rinse water,
CIP reagents, waste disposal costs, etc. |
